Linesville is the first town served by US 6 heading east from Ohio into Pennsylvania. This picture above was taken in 1941. US 6 has not changed it's path through Linesville during the past 60 years. If you look closely below the Mobilgas sign, you can make out an old cut-out sign for US 6. To the right are closer views of the historic sign. Another note of interest is Linesville has claimed to be the halfway point between Chicago and New York City for those using US 6. Strangely, US 6 does not serve either city directly. |
