Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds earned the top single of 1975, just edging out Olivia Newton-John. In addition to "Have You Never Been Mellow" at number two, Olivia Newton-John's other hits in 1975 included "Something Better To Do" and "Please Mr. Please" at #40. While having the number two single of 1975 she was also runner up for top act of the year to Elton John. Elton John was the only act to place two singles in the year end top 10. He was also featured on Neil Sedaka's "Bad Blood" at #34. "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" was a Beatles cover. John Lennon was also on the year end chart as a songwriter with David Bowie's "Fame" (#28). There were two instrumentals in the year end Top 10. Both featured limited vocals. Silver Convention landed at #9 with "Fly, Robin, Fly" while Van McCoy scored the biggest hit to be named after a dance in over ten years with "The Hustle". The Eagles became the biggest band in America with a string of hit singles. Two of them, "One Of These Nights" and "Best Of My Love" just missed the year end Top 10, coming in at #11 and #12 respectively. The Eagles had performed as backing musicians for Linda Ronstadt. Ronstadt also had a chart topping single in 1975, "You're No Good". Janis Ian had on of the year's most heartfelt tracks, "At Seventeen", ranked at #15.
