After a promising debut album that produced a few hits, Boyz II Men showed their true potential in 1994, emerging as Motown's most successful group since the 1960's. "I'll Make Love To You" only spent two weeks number one, but remained in the top 40 for 21 weeks, just edging out Tim McGraw for the top single of the year. Boyz II Men followed "I'll Make Love To You" with another number one single, "On Bended Knee", which did not chart until late November, but spent four weeks at the top, earning enough points to rank #58 for the year. Tim McGraw's breakthrough single, "Indian Outlaw" (#33) helped earn him Top Male Artist of the year. Although he scored more points than Ace Of Base, he had charted on Billboard's country chart before 1994, making him ineligible for Top New Act. "Don't Take The Girl" was one of several number one singles in 1994 by male country singers including Garth Brooks, John Michael Montgomery and Sammy Kershaw. Ace Of Base may have been the biggest new act of the year, but other several other artists broke through with their first chart topping singles in 1994 including Sheryl Crow (#8), Coolio (#5) and Hootie & The Blowfish (#44). Melissa Ethridge also made it to the number one with "Come To My Window". Although she had been a staple of rock radio for several years, this was her first major hit on UU-BRU Radio Playlist. Luther Vandross and Mariah Carey took their cover of "Endless Love" to number one in September for six weeks, outlasting the original version's one week run at the top exactly 13 years earlier by Diana Ross and Lionel Richie, also becoming the first song to ever top the chart on UU-BRU Internet Radio by two different acts.
