Maroon 5, led by charismatic Adam Levine, scored two of 2004's biggest singles including the top song of the year ("This Love") and the fourth biggest hit ("She Will Be Loved") helping to become the top group of the year. They placed seven songs on the chart during the year including covers by AC/DC, John Lennon and Gene Wilder. Shania Twain, with five chart singles, had her best showing on UU-BRU Internet Radio since 1999. A new sound known as "country without prejudice" emerged from Nashville, led by Big & Rich and Gretchen Wilson. The Muzik Mafia scored the #2 song of 2004 with "Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy)" and 2004's longest running number one hit, "Here For The Party" at seven weeks. The AMERICAN IDOL franchise produced several hits during the year. The biggest, "Raindrops Will Fall", landed at #10. Tamyra Gray was also responsible for co-writing another hit, "I Believe". The single reached the top twice in 2004, yet failed to place in the year end Top 40. AI3 winner Fantasia Barrino's version debuted at #1 in June (#43 for the year). Another version by AI3 runner up and Top New Act of 2004, Diana DeGarmo, is at #48. In July, Diana DeGarmo accomplished the rare feat of placing four songs in the top ten during the same week. Evanescence peaked at number two in January with "My Immortal", but the song's chart run was divided almost equally between calendar years, ranking at #32 in 2003 and #34 in 2004. Hootie & The Blowfish returned to the year end top ten for the first time since 1995 with "Goodbye Girl" (#9). 1980's superstars Melissa Manchester and Chrissie Hynde (of The Pretenders) returned to the top of UU-BRU Internet Radio as did the late Laura Branigan with "I Know You By Heart".
